Firestone All-Purpose Fasteners approved for Use in All types of Wood Decks

Firestone is pleased to announce that All-Purpose (AP) Fasteners may be used for attachment to wood decks for all Firestone Red Shield, Medallion and Platinum warranted roofing systems. Our testing with the Firestone AP Fastener in wood decks has yielded outstanding pullout values, leading us to announce this change. This change is effective immediately, and applies to all types of wood decks: OSB, Tongue-and-Groove, Wood Plank, etc.

Additionally, AP Fasteners may be used in warranted projects over wood decks that require increased wind speeds, and in some wind uplift rated assemblies over wood decks. Please note that assemblies requiring FM Global or other wind uplift ratings must meet the tested and rated system listed by the code agency. If Firestone Heavy Duty Fasteners are called out in the rated system, they must be used instead of Firestone AP Fasteners. Architects, engineers, and other specifiers should be reminded that deck attachment is an integral part of wind uplift rated assemblies, and that the attachment of the deck must meet the applicable code in order for the entire roofing assembly to meet the code.
