Firestone New Product: Single-Ply LVOC Primer & Splice Wash

With an increased focus on environmentally friendly, Low Volatile Organic Compounds (LVOC) products, Firestone Building Products is pleased to introduce Single-Ply LVOC Primer, as well as, Single-Ply LVOC Splice Wash. These two new products provide an LVOC option for use in cleaning and preparing either RubberGard™ EPDM or UltraPly™ TPO membranes to receive QuickSeam™ tape products.

The new Single-Ply LVOC Primer has been extensively tested and proven to provide superior adhesion with QuickSeam products and complies with VOC limit requirements.

Single-Ply LVOC Primer Benefits:

  • Ensures excellent initial and long-term bond strength
  • Flashes off much quicker than the QuickPrime LVOC Primer
  • Meets the VOC air quality requirements of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) and Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) and can be used anywhere in the U.S.

The new Single-Ply LVOC Splice Wash is designed to clean RubberGard EPDM and UltraPly TPO seams wherever a 250 g/L VOC limit is mandated. Single-Ply LVOC Splice Wash works to ensure a superior seam and to improve the performance of Firestone primers, adhesives and sealants. Single-PLY LVOC Splice Wash can be used in all OTC areas, but not in California air districts that use the SCAQMD regulations.

Due to new regulations, contractors are required to use Single-Ply LVOC Primer and Single-Ply LVOC Splice Wash for both UltraPly TPO and RubberGard EPDM roofing membrane systems in states regulated by the Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) model rule requiring limited emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) – MAX 250 g/L. OTC member states include: Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey,
New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia, as of January 1, 2012.

These new products complement Firestone’s full line of low VOC products and demonstrate Firestone’s continued commitment to provide our customers with environmentally friendly products, while maintaining the high level of quality and performance expected from Firestone.

Please contact your Roof Systems Advisor, 1-800-428-4511 for the latest code approvals for this product. Additional information is available from your local Firestone Sales Representative or visit the Firestone Building Products website at www.firestonebpco.com. Thanks for your continued support.
